Director of Quality & Risk Management RN

About the Opportunity

A regional acute care hospital located in Southern New Mexico is seeking an experienced Director of Quality & Risk Management RN to lead the organization's quality and risk management program. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating clinical and organizational risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of patient safety across the facility. The Director will serve as a key liaison between clinical departments, administration, legal counsel, and insurance carriers.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive hospital-wide risk management program
• Investigate and manage adverse events, sentinel events, and patient safety incidents
• Conduct root cause analyses and lead performance improvement initiatives related to risk mitigation
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements (CMS, Joint Commission, NM Department of Health, etc.)
• Manage claims processes, including coordination with legal counsel and insurance carriers
• Provide risk management education and training to clinical and administrative staff
• Monitor trends in incident reporting and develop proactive risk reduction strategies
• Collaborate with Quality, Patient Safety, and Compliance departments
• Prepare risk management reports for hospital leadership and governing bodies
• Maintain policies and procedures related to risk management and patient safety

What We’re Looking For

• Current New Mexico RN License, or multistate compact license valid in New Mexico
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
• Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience
• Minimum of 3 years in a Director or Manager-level role
• Demonstrated experience in Risk Management (healthcare setting)
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) — preferred upon hire; required within 3 years of employment
• Risk Management, Quality and Medical Staff experience required.
